Ecuador is a small country by South American standards. Though small in size, Ecuador’s struggles are as varied as the people who live there. It is traditionally more agricultural than most of its neighbors and large estate owners still rely on exploiting indigenous and rural sharecroppers. Ecuador has one of the highest percentages of aboriginal peoples, but they are on the whole, disenfranchised and participate little in the national economy. Our work there has established long-term relationships with those we have collaborated with to bring about a full spectrum of community development.
