Peru

Peru is in great need of education and training. Since the 1980’s they have dealt with economic crises and corrupt politicians. The census in 2003 estimated that more than half of the population lives below the poverty line and nearly 15% of Peruvians can’t read or write. Our efforts in Peru have focused not only on the rural poor living in villages outside of the Inca capital Cusco, but also the budding population of urban poor who live in shanty towns without adequate housing, education, or health care in Cusco and Lima.
